I have been dating someone for 4 1/2 years now (I am 24).  Things have been really rocky for over a year.  We can't seem to get along.  He is a very pessimistic person.  He has a professional career that keeps him stressed and so do I.  I feel like I am last on the totem pole these days.  He used to send me flowers on occasion, send e-cards, text me, and call just to let me know he is thinking of me.  He doesn't do these things anymore.  We have broken up twice in the last year, but always get back together.  I am not sure we are getting back together for the right reasons.  I think we get back together because we are afraid of the unknown.  An old friend contacted me on myspace.com.  We used to be good friends.  I always liked him but was afraid to say so.  He got married, has a two year old son, and is now divorced.  He asked me to go to lunch and I declined because I am in a relationship.  However, I can't keep thinking about what might have been or what could be if I weren't with my current BF now.  I have this major guilt in the pit of my stomach and I have done nothing.  I even told my BF that he asked me to lunch and I said no.  Do I stay with my steady and safe BF and hope that things turn around or do I risk the unknown?

If you and your BF aren't doing so great, I would say go for it. If you don't you'll never know. You're still young, don't limit yourself.
